RIP Patrolman First Class Douglas Fisher,Lower Paxton Township Mourns the Loss of Pfc. Douglas Fisher
It is with profound sadness that the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police announces the untimely passing of Patrolman First Class Douglas Fisher. Pfc. Fisher passed away in the early morning hours of July 29, 2026, following a medical emergency while serving on military orders in South Carolina. He was 49.
Pfc. Fisher dedicated more than two decades to a remarkable life of dual service, protecting his community in Pennsylvania and his country around the globe. His quiet humility, exceptional leadership, and unwavering commitment earned him the universal respect of all who served beside him.
His journey of service began at Shippensburg University, where he earned a science education degree and was commissioned as an Army Second Lieutenant in 1999. His early active-duty years with the 82nd Airborne Division included a 2002 deployment to Afghanistan with Task Force Panther, where he earned the Combat Infantryman Badge.
In January 2004, he brought that dedication home, joining the Lower Paxton Township Police. He served with distinction in both Patrol and the Criminal Investigation Section as a Detective, earning promotion to Patrolman First Class in 2018. Throughout his distinguished law enforcement career, he was known for his professionalism and deep care for the community.
Simultaneously, he built an exceptional military career in the U.S. Army Reserve, rising to the rank of Colonel. At the time of his passing, he commanded the 2nd Brigade, 87th Training Division. A graduate of Ranger School, Airborne School, and the U.S. Army War College, Colonel Fisher’s resume of command and staff positions was extensive. His numerous decorations, including the Bronze Star Medal and Meritorious Service Medal, reflect a lifetime of extraordinary leadership and sacrifice.
Doug Fisher’s legacy, however, transcends badges, ranks, and awards. It lives in the countless lives he impacted through his integrity, compassion, and steadfast principle of service before self. He embodied the highest ideals of both a peace officer and a soldier.
The Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police extends its deepest condolences to his wife, Heather; his sons, Hunter and Hayden; his daughter, Scarlett; and all his family, friends, and brothers and sisters in arms. We ask the community to hold them in their thoughts during this time of unimaginable loss.
Pfc. Douglas Fisher faithfully answered the call, both at home and abroad. His service, his sacrifice, and his profound legacy will never be forgotten.
