Chris Bjorling Obituary, Glacier Lakes District Scouts and Scouting Mourns Passing Of Vice President of District Operations

The Glacier Lakes District and the Greater Finger Lakes Council mourn the loss of Chris Bjorling, Vice President of District Operations, whose sudden passing has left a profound void in our Scouting family. Chris was not just a leader; he was a cornerstone of our community, a mentor, and a friend whose life was a living testament to the values we hold dear.

An Eagle Scout who never left the trail, Chris dedicated countless years of service, ascending through roles of greater responsibility and impact. He served as a former District Chairman and Council Commissioner, bringing wisdom, stability, and a forward-thinking vision to every position. In his most recent role as Vice President of District Operations, his strategic guidance and hands-on support were invaluable to volunteers and units across the council. Above all, Chris exemplified the Scout Oath and Law—trustworthy, loyal, helpful, and kind—in every interaction.

His leadership was matched only by his genuine passion for developing youth and supporting volunteers. Chris believed deeply in the transformative power of Scouting, and his unwavering commitment touched countless lives, shaping character and fostering leadership in a generation of young people. The legacy of his service is etched into the success of our programs and the spirit of our council.

During this immensely difficult time, we ask the entire Scouting community to keep Chris’s beloved wife, Heidi, and their children in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this tremendous loss.

Please join us in remembering Chris not with sorrow alone, but with profound gratitude for his extraordinary life of service. Let us honor his legacy by continuing his work—inspiring youth, supporting one another, and living the Scout Law each day, just as he did.
