Alex Womer Pottsville, PA Obituary, International Soap Box Derby Family Mourns Alex Who Tragically Passed Away At 18
Just two weeks ago, Alex was racing in Akron as a Local Champ in the Super Stock Division. Her sudden passing has left a void in the tight-knit Derby community, where she was not just a competitor, but a beloved member of the family.

There are moments when words simply aren’t enough. Alex was more than a Soap Box Derby Champion; she was a vibrant spirit who embodied the very essence of Derby values: determination, sportsmanship, and friendship. She followed a proud family tradition into the sport, inspired by her father, uncle, and brother. Her dedication saw her compete as a Masters Champ in Akron just last year, in 2022.
While champions are often remembered for the races they win, they are truly remembered for the lives they touch. Alex’s presence at Derby Downs and back home in Pottsville will never be forgotten. Off the track, she was an avid outdoorswoman who loved riding quads, fishing, hunting, and, above all, spending time with her family and friends. Her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Our hearts are with Alex’s family, friends, and the entire Pottsville community during this unimaginable time. We hope they find comfort in the countless memories shared, the friendships forged on the hill, and the lasting impact Alex made on everyone around her.
The Soap Box Derby community is more than a racing organization; we are a family. Today, we grieve together, remember together, and stand beside all who loved Alex. Please join us in keeping Alex’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
